Step-by-Step Instructions

Please review the information included here in the first 5 Steps, and then review my page:  5 Steps for Project Management.  When you have completed those first 5 Steps, you can return here to continue on to Step 6.

Step 1 – Assess the Project

Consult your Design Plans, and look over the items in your two Staging Areas. Keeping in mind the items that you intend to place on the Shelves that you have installed, determine if the Containers, Bins, and Drawers that you have planned for are sufficient for the items that you will need to store. If not, you will need to make some adjustments to your Plans.

Step 2 – Create a Materials & Tools Needed Sheet

Beginning in your Primary Base, after consulting your Design Plan and looking at the items in your Primary Base Staging area, assess your needs in the following areas, and list your needs on scratch paper, under the heading:  Primary Base:

  • Tool Boxes – Main and Portable
  • Power Tools
  • Hand Tools
  • Containers & Bins for Fasteners
  • Drawers & Bins for Spare Parts & Supplies

Be as specific as possible, writing down, dimensions, number of drawers, types of Tools, etc. Also consult your list of any damaged, discarded Tools and add these to your list.

Then, consult your Secondary Base Design Plan and look at the items in your Secondary Base Staging area.

Assess your needs in the following areas, and write down your needs on scratch paper, under the heading:  Secondary Base. Be as specific as possible:

  • Power Tools
  • Hand Tools
  • Rack for Spare Lumber
  • Hooks for Ladders
  • Containers & Bins for Fasteners
  • Drawers & Bins for Spare Parts & Supplies

Now, combine and Total any like items on your scratch paper, and transfer your complete list to a Materials & Tools Needed sheet.

Step 3 – Calculate Project Cost

Step 4 – Order Your Materials & Tools Needed

Step 5 – Inspect Your Delivery

After reviewing the information here for the first (5) Steps, additional information to complete these first (5) Steps is found in the page:  5 Steps for Project Management  Simply click on that link and you will be directed there.

After completing those first (5) Steps, return to these Instructions and continue on to Step 6.

Step 6 – Install Your Items in Both of Your Bases

Install your Tool Boxes, Power Tools, Containers, Drawers, Bins, Racks, and Hooks, in both of your Bases.

Main Tool Box

Primary Base

First, roll your Main Tool Box into place in your Primary Base. Lock the casters. Make sure that you keep it far enough away from the wall to allow you to open and close the lid without banging into your wall or Pegboard. Place your Portable (Secondary) Tool Boxes in their appropriate places.

Next, you can arrange all of your Power Tools. Those that are Table Models should be placed according to your Designs. Others that are portable can be arranged on the lower Shelves of your Workbenches or placed wherever you have envisioned them according to your Designs.

Now, place your Containers and Bins for Fasteners on your Workbench. We will fill them in the next Phase.

Lastly, roll or place your Drawers and Bins for Spare Parts and Supplies into their proper places. Then, go to your Secondary Base.
